Debunking Podcast Market Myths: AI Integration & YouTube's Role in Content Creativity

Paul Colligan and Dave Jackson from the School of Podcasting dive into the essential insights for podcasters in 2024. They discuss the evolving landscape of podcasting, including the surprising decrease in active podcasts and why the space isn't as saturated as you might think. The duo also tackles the big question: Is YouTube a friend or foe to podcasters? With its massive reach but questionable dedication to podcasting, they ponder whether YouTube will significantly move the needle in the industry.
The conversation shifts to AI's influence in podcasting, weighing the innovative benefits against the potential pitfalls. They explore AI's role in content creation and the legal grey areas that might arise. Plus, don't miss Dave Jackson's 60-second rant on why using certain stats can be misleading and the critical importance of authenticity in podcasting.
Finally, the episode delves into the debate between Descript and Eddy—two editing tools revolutionizing the way we approach podcast production. Discover which tool might be best for you, and hear their final words of wisdom: "Don't be boring."
Tune in for a thought-provoking exploration of what's new, what's next, and what's necessary for podcasters in today's rapidly changing digital world.

Thoughts On Owning Your Own Network

Thoughts On Owning Your Own Network

When you OWN the network, Facebook going doing doesn't matter, YouTube demonetizing you doesn't matter, Spotify running in and out of favor doesn't matter.
What matters is what you do with your content, with your network.
    Be smart with it
P.s., this is MUCH bigger than owning the URL or someone else publishing your feed..

Awesome! 👏

Found this podcast because of the episode with Benjamin Hardy, #1 writer on Medium. There were so many actionable tips for repurposing podcast content on Medium and for doing it well. I’ve also listened to a bunch of other episodes too. Great stuff.
